For the past several years, IAGLR has been bringing together Indigenous and western scientists to co-determine how best to work with one another for the good of the lakes and those who rely on them. Now IAGLR is pleased to offer two new resources that have emerged from this collaboration with an Indigenous Nation, a university research group, a provincial government, and an international treaty organization—a special journal issue and recordings from a conference session on bridging knowledge systems.

Congratulations to former IAGLR Board Member Jennifer Boehme for being named CEO of the Great Lakes Observing System. Boehme, currently co-chair of both the IAGLR IDEA+ Committee and Investment Committee, will start her posiiton in August. She currently works as an environmental scientist at the International Joint Commission. Read more.

The International Association for Great Lakes Research honored Patricia Chow-Fraser yesterday evening with its 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award—the association's highest accolade. Presented at IAGLR’s 66th Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research, the award recognizes important and continued contributions to the field of Great Lakes research over a period of 20 years or more. Chow-Fraser, a leading coastal wetlands scientist, is a professor of biology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
