It’s that time of year when we all think about giving gifts to those who are important to us. It’s also a time when we consider charitable giving. Better yet are gifts that give twice! IAGLR is an official 501(c)(3), which means that contributions to IAGLR are tax-deductible. IAGLR maintains an Endowment Fund for special projects and as a “rainy day” fund to cover emergency expenses. We also sponsor several annual student scholarships and awards. Perhaps you can help IAGLR, while minimizing your taxable liabilities? We appreciate the many ways you support the Association! Thank you!

The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology’s Subcommittee on the Environment is scheduled to discuss the future of the Waters of the U.S. Rule, or “WOTUS” rule, Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. The regulation determines which wetlands and small waterways are protected by the Clean Water Act. The subcommittee also will examine state participation in administering Clean Water Act regulations.

IAGLR joins other science societies to oppose the repeal of the 2015 Clean Water Rule and object to a narrower definition of "Waters of the United States' (WOTUS). The proposed definition would exclude numerous waters that affect the health of primary waters and make it impossible to achieve the goals of the Clean Water Act. Read the letter jointly submitted by these 12 organizations. This letter is in response to a request for comments on the definition of WOTUS, the second step in the rulemaking process to repeal the 2015 Clean Water Rule.
