Dear IAGLR members and friends,
In February, IAGLR released a statement expressing our concerns about recent U.S. federal actions that threaten the very foundation of Great Lakes science and the diverse community that supports it. Widespread funding cuts, the rollback of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, restrictions on international collaboration, and the dismissal of federal employees are having real and lasting effects—not only on large lake research, but on the people who carry it out.
Since the beginning of the year, IAGLR has continued to monitor these developments, particularly their regulatory impacts and binational implications. Our organization—and many of our members—have become go-to sources for media outlets in both the U.S. and Canada seeking insight on these critical issues.
Today, we invite you to take a few moments to share your experience by completing a brief online survey.
Your input will help us document and better understand the effects of these changes, enabling us to communicate them clearly to decision makers, partners, and the public. We plan to share preliminary results at the upcoming IAGLR conference in early June and feature key findings in a future issue of Lakes Letter magazine.
Thank you in advance for your contribution. Your story is a vital part of a collective voice working to support just, inclusive, and resilient scientific communities throughout the Great Lakes region—and beyond.
With gratitude,
Jérôme Marty
IAGLR Executive Director
P.S. Please feel free to share this survey with others as it is open to the public.
