Description

The Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is seeking one qualified Fishery Biologist and one Wildlife Biologist to join the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Trust Lands Department. This position supports the Band’s efforts to protect, restore, and manage culturally and ecologically significant fish and wildlife populations within Tribal Trust Lands, waterways, and 1854 Ceded Territory.

The Biologist will assist in the design, coordination, and implementation of both field and analytical components of resource management programs, with frequent cross-disciplinary collaboration between fisheries and wildlife projects. Primary duties include leading or assisting in field surveys, capture and monitoring of target species, data management and analysis, and reporting results that inform long-term conservation and subsistence management goals.

Applicants should have a strong background in field biology, crew management, data analysis, and project coordination, as well as the ability to work independently in remote northern Minnesota environments. Fieldwork may involve extended days, variable weather, and irregular hours.
