Why I'm running for the IAGLR Board of Directors

Hello! My name is Harris, and I am running to be elected a member of the board of directors of the International Association for Great Lakes Research. My academic interests lie at the intersections of environment, politics, and science in society, and I have considerable experience in researching and discussing trans-boundary water politics and governance. While a political scientist by training and experience I am deeply passionate about multi-disciplinary thought and methodologies and have worked to make multi-disciplinary efforts at the heart of everything I do, including my doctoral research which was based in both the Geography and War Studies (IR) departments at King’s College London. If elected, I would bring a passion for bridging the disciplinary silos with a focus on not just great science but also the political, cultural, and discursive dynamics which define what great lakes are, and how we as people interact with and understand them.
