IAGLR Large Lake Champion Award

Purpose

The IAGLR Large Lake Champion Award recognizes and honors individuals whose work has made significant contributions to sharing the social, economic, and ecological understanding of large lakes of the world. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, the nominee should meet the following requirements:

• Have made significant contributions to sharing the social, economic, and ecological understanding of large lakes, including North American Great Lakes, African Great Lakes, or others
• Has not previously received the award
• Membership in IAGLR is not necessary

We encourage nominations from a diversity of backgrounds.

Nomination Package

Your nomination package should include the following:

• A nomination letter from an IAGLR member, clearly indicating how the nominee(s) has/have made a notable contribution to the advancement of understanding of great lakes regional issues and problems through education and/or outreach activities targeted to the general public (children and/or adults) and policymakers
• The nominee’s resume
• Minimum of three letters of support, preferably from IAGLR members

Criteria for Judging

Nominees are evaluated on the following criteria:

• Community and social impact
• Excellence in contributions in the areas of research, policy, education, communication, or outreach to large lakes of the world, with a particular focus on their contributions within the last two years
