Sabina Rakhimbekova

Rakhimbekova

Dr. Sabina Rakhimbekova received her Ph.D. degree from University of Western Ontario where she studied the role of groundwater-lake interactions on groundwater flow and pollutant transport to Great Lakes. After completing her Ph.D., she was a postdoc at University of Western Ontario and became an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Western Ontario in 2021. Dr. Rakhimbekova's research interests are the impact of climate change on Great Lakes ecosystem, contaminant hydrogeology, numerical modelling and groundwater-lake interactions. Currently, Dr. Rakhimbekova is a vice president of the Early Career Hydrogeologist Network of the International Association of Hydrogeologists. Dr. Rakhimbekova is passionate about environment and sustainability and held leadership positions in several student organizations during her undergraduate and graduate studies including Western Water Chapter, Sustainability Committee of the Society of Graduate Students, American Society of Civil Engineers. Dr. Rakhimbekova is an early career researcher who is eager to use her knowledge and skills to contribute to the successful operation of the International Association for Great Lakes Research and serve on its commitees as required.
