Getting There

By Air

There are two airports in Toronto. The largest is Pearson International airport. There is also the smaller Island Airport, which may be more convenient for some travelers in the Great Lakes region. This smaller airport is closer to downtown Toronto and Union station.

Airport shuttle: While it is possible to take public transit from Pearson airport to UTSC, it would take at least 1.5 hours. We recommend people either share a taxi or share rental of a car.

  • Taxi – UTSC is approximately 40 km away from the airport. Tell the driver that Scarborough Campus is at 1265 Military Trail. The flat-rate fare for this journey is currently $71 CAD, plus the fuel surcharge.
  • TTC (public transit) – Take bus #192 (Airport Rocket) to Kipling subway station, then take the subway eastbound all the way to Kennedy station, then transfer to 198 bus to USTC campus. This would cost $3.50 but takes at least 1.5 hours. For information about TTC fares, please visit the TTC website

By Train

Catch a VIA train from Ottawa, Kingston, Windsor, or Montreal,  to the Guildwood station near campus.

More details on UTSC website.

Getting to downtown Toronto from UTSC.

Driving times from UTSC to downtown Toronto are very dependent upon traffic conditions – and can vary between 40 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. Parking can sometimes be a challenge as well, so you should consider public transit.

There are two options depending where you are going in downtown Toronto. Cash fares are more expensive. Residents of Ontario may already have a Presto Card, which is cheaper and does transfers easily.

  • Either take bus 198 to Kennedy and the subway to St George Station (cost $3.50 – time = 60- 70 minutes)  (route map);
  • or take 38 bus to Rouge station, then take GO train to Union station (cost $3.50 cash for bus, then $7.25 for train, or $8.00 total with PRESTO card) - time = 60 minutes (route map).

Parking

Delegates staying in campus accommodations will have parking passes included in the rate. For IAGLR delegates staying elsewhere and driving to campus for the conference each day, the host committee has arranged a special parking rate. Please park in Lots G or H, as identified on the campus map, and take a ticket when you enter the lot. The registration desk will have parking passes available for sale at a daily rate of $4 (tax included).
