Students

Student members are integral to the success of IAGLR. To recognize achievements and encourage involvement of student members, we present several scholarships and awards to outstanding student researchers each year. In addition, we award travel funds to many students to help defray costs of conference attendance. We also hold events for students at the annual conference.

IAGLR Best Student Paper & Poster Awards

Each year, the best student presentations given at the annual meeting are honored by awards sponsored by IAGLR. The awards consist of a cash prize and a complimentary 1-year membership to IAGLR, which includes a subscription to the Journal of Great Lakes Research. Students may enter the competition when they submit an abstract for the presentation at the annual meeting.

IAGLR-OMNR Student Travel Award

The IAGLR-OMNR Student Travel Award is designed to promote student member attendance at the annual conference by subsidizing a portion of the costs of travel to and from the meeting. Student participation at the IAGLR conference is integral to the atmosphere of the meeting as well as to students' education. The award is open to current IAGLR student members, in need of financial assistance to attend and present a paper or poster at the annual Conference on Great Lakes Research. Travel award funds are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The amount awarded to individual students will vary, and is contingent on distance traveled and funds available. Student members can apply when registering for the conference.

Any applicant judged as not meeting the outlined criteria will be notified before the conference registration deadline. The award may be reversed and/or adjusted as necessary, and the student must pay any remaining balances due.

IAGLR International Travel Award

IAGLR will confer travel support for a Masters, PhD student or a Post-Doctoral fellow from countries outside of the United States or Canada to attend the upcoming Conference on Great Lakes Research. Application deadline is February 1. Please view details about the award, including how to apply.
