View IJC SAB session & discussion online next week

June 12, 2018

If you can't make it to IAGLR2018, you can still catch some of the action online. We'll be live streaming The IJC's Science Advisory Board Review of Current Priorities and Projects, including the facilitated discussion wrapping up the session. Tune in on Friday, June 22, to watch the morning session (8:40-11:40) and the afternoon session plus facilitated discussion (1:40-2:20 & 2:20-3 p.m.).

The Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement requires that the International Joint Commission establish and support a Great Lakes Science Advisory Board (SAB) to provide advice on research and scientific matters to the commission and the Great Lakes Water Quality Board.  Since 1978 the SAB has been advancing its responsibilities in part through completion of projects that the board identifies, or issues referred to it by the commission. This session will highlight the structure and functioning of the board and review several of its recent and ongoing projects. The session concludes with a facilitated discussion that builds on the project overviews presented. The goal is to generate a list of priority topics and opportunities for the SAB to increase the relevance of its science advice to governments.
