Session: 22. - How to Talk Science so Policy will Listen, and Listen so Science will Talk?

Abstract
Many Great Lakes stakeholders are of the view that policy should be informed by science and data in order to produce effective results. Achieving evidence-based policy and programming, however, is in reality quite difficult. My presentation will present 1) preliminary findings from research on the science-policy nexus with respect to Lake Ontario eutrophication; 2) insights gleaned from other water contexts to tighten the nexus; and 3) my current perspective on the need to rethink the science-policy nexus to better contribute to the policy process.
