Though scientific watershed research has seen significant technological advances in the quality of equipment, modeling, and analysis tools over the past century, the mechanisms by which these scientific developments are disseminated to stakeholders are often ad hoc and disjointed. As a result, there has been an increasing trend towards online hydrosystem monitoring, modelling and forecasting initiatives,  especially given the wide spread need for better hydroclimatological decision support systems to help manage climate change and extreme weather.

In this presentation we present HGSRT (HydroGeoSphere Real-Time), a cloud-based web application for the communication and visualization of hydrologic forecast data produced from ensemble-based fully-integrated surface water-groundwater simulations for iathe major watersheds across Southern Ontario. The HGSRT application is deployed in the Amazon Web Services cloud and relays information to the end-user from HGS ensemble forecast simulations.  A high-level overview of the platform architecture of the real-time modelling and disseminationplatform will be presented, along with results from a live demo of the actual HGSRT application. The platform is demonstrated as an effective means to swiftly communicate real-time hydrologic monitoring and forecast data, such as soil moisture, stream flow,  and groundwater levels generated from a fully-integrated groundwater–surface water simulator to a diverse stakeholder audience.
