Abstract

The Release Analysis Viewer Tool (RAV Tool) combines up-to-date EPA databases on a single EPA Region 5 map, to help target industrial facilities impacting people’s health.  EPA implements several publicly-available databases which provide chemical release data to the Great Lakes.  EPA databases, such as RCRAInfo (land), DMR (water), CDR (TSCA chemicals), TRI (multi-media), and NEI (air), can provide users with facility-specific chemical information released into the Great Lakes Basin.  The RAV Tool displays these data layers on a GIS map, to allow users to evaluate, and potentially reduce, each of these Great Lakes chemicals.   The RAV Tool can also be used to investigate chemical storage and releases to better inform stakeholders on their impact to sensitive animal species and wetlands, as well as, sensitive human populations in specific areas within the Great Lakes Basin.
