Development of real-time HABs detection technique using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)

Abstract

HABs inflow Information is important to seawater desalination plant due to cause serious problems of reducing fresh water production. An UAV monitoring system was developed to continuously track HABs in Gwangyang Bay, South Korea. HABs tracking experiment is conducted in 2017 to monitor an area some 2 km in radius from 400 m above the ground. The transmitted images in real-time were detected the position, size, direction and velocity of the HAB using HSV color detection processing algorithm. The field datas were collected and compared with those obtained by HF-radar to verify its effectiveness.
