Using Video Stories to Reach Stakeholders, Congress, and Communities

Session: Beyond Peer Review: Why You Must Connect Your Science to Stakeholders (and how to do it) (5)

Abstract

When was the last time your member of Congress read a peer-reviewed journal? When was the last time you got feedback from stakeholders on your latest publication? Let's be real. No one is reading these things except your peers.

Video storytelling is the perfect way to put your research in context, connect with audiences who should know about it, and embolden your capacity for meaningful engagement with elected officials and the  public.

We'll explore a case study of a recent video project that is reaching the Hill, is shareable online, and puts research in a context stakeholders can understand and appreciate.

We'll also explore simple ways you can start documenting your work through video to empower your work.
