Nicole Pasch, City of Grand Rapids, [email protected]
Michael Staal, City of Grand Rapids, [email protected]

Abstract

This session will detail the challenges and benefits of next-generation data and control systems for public water treatment utilities. The City of Grand Rapids, a true innovator in water treatment monitoring, will discuss the value propositions that incentivized initial investment in non compliance monitoring and the rapid returns that have allowed them to take a national leadership role in the space. City representatives will discuss the methods and tools they use to model, monitor, and manage water flow and quality dynamics within and beyond their asset map. Broader impacts on the communities and ecology of the region will also be examined as well as a vision for future data systems.
