Abstract

The Toronto Remedial Action Plan (RAP) team has been working with community groups and partners to restore water quality, habitat, and fish and wildlife populations in the Toronto Area of Concern (AOC).  Considerable improvements have been made in the AOC since 2008 with successes that inclued the designation of 8 of 11 Toronto waterfront beaches as Blue Flag, declines in the levels of contaminants in fish, and a decreases in Phosphorous levels along the waterfront to a level that now meets RAP targets.  This presentation will provide a brief overview of progress made in the Toronto and Region Area of Concern, and outline the key actions needed to address the four remaining beneficial use indicators (BUIs).
