Join us as we celebrate IAGLR's 51st Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research!

Our Lakes, Our Community is the theme of this year’s conference, reflecting community stewardship of the Great Lakes. This theme will recognize the role that communities and community organizations can play in protecting the quality and quantity of water, and the recreational and commercial value of the Great Lakes. There are 350 platform presentations and 55 posters in 28 scientific sessions.

This year the conference will host three outstanding plenary speakers: Dr. Dean Jacobs, Executive Director of the Walpole Island First Nation Natural Heritage Centre as Keynote Speaker on May 20. Dr. Al Kristofferson, Managing Director of the Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium and Rick Findlay, Director of the Water Programme, Pollution Probe will speak May 21 and May 22 respectively.

The 51st Annual Conference is also pleased to host two special presentations. Dr. Roberta Bondar, Canadian astronaut and Chancellor of Trent University will present "Between the Sheets, Lakes from Space" at the IAGLR Banquet on May 21. On the evening of May 22, we are proud to host the founder of Waterkeepers Alliance, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as the speaker for the David Sheperd Family Lecture Series, presented in association with Trent University. Tickets for this special presentation at the Peterborough Memorial Centre are included in the price of registration for conference delegates.

The 51st Conference is also pleased to present 4 workshops on Monday, May 19, prior to the conference proceedings. Information regarding these workshops is available on the program.

To close the conference we are hosting a Can/Am Hockey Game in support of the IAGLR Scholarship Fund. A nominal fee will be assessed for each player and coaching staff to go towards the cash prize to the winning team, who will have the honor/honour of donating it to the IAGLR Scholarship fund!
